We paid for the room in advance through their 800 number, and at our arrival they asked for a credit card on file which was charged over $4600. The "Preferred" check in area its in a basement and be very careful with double charges. It seems that people clean their hands on the seat pillows and it is disgusting when you see them on day light. The rest, have VERY poor service, the food is subpar at best and DIRTY. The rooms are dirty with stained covers and you have to chase the pool people to clean the swim outs. BEWARE !!! This is not just a secrets property, it is 80% Breathless and 20% Secrets. We have stayed at several secrets and Zoetry properties and this was the WORSE!!!! We are accustomed to the great service, cleanliness and great food at all secrets. Martin was concierge for our floor, he was also excellent, he sent someone to our room every day to help with odor. All the staff on Secrets side were amazing. Luiz was our bartender, he was so nice! Made good drinks. Highlights of our trip was good food, especially Rosewater. The guy who came in sprayed the vent which helped with the odor. When Jivy started her shift I spoke to her, she was so nice and said she will someone to our room right away, she sent in someone in right away. But the odor was so bad that we couldn't stand in the room. He sent someone to make the bed after I spoke to him for 3rd time. We waited till 3pm and our room was not taken care of. I asked if I can speak to the manager, he said she was busy. Told him about the odor, he said he would send housekeeper to clean the room. We went to see Antonio at front desk early in the morning. That night we could not sleep in the room due to bad odor. We had to call them to tell them we placed our order over an hour ago. We ordered room service, took them more then an hour and a half to bring our food. When we got to our room it smelled awful, we thought it was due to humidity and that it would go away. We arrived at 10:20PM, we waited 2 hours to get checked in. We were hoping Secrets would be a great resort, but here was some good and bad with this resort. We visit Mexico every year, and we always do a adults only resort. All in all, I would highly recommend Secrets to anyone looking for a relaxing stay. Don't come here for water sports or clear blue ocean. The staff handles it every day and NO, the smell is not that bad or non-existent, at least when we were there. Yes, there is a good amount of seaweed on the shores. The location is OK - further south away from the main city and a ways from the main road, but everything you need is within the compound. Food was decent enough - some hit and some miss, but if you're coming to an all-inclusive for Michelin star food, you're fooling yourself. Tip if you feel like it or if you felt you had great service. Many question about tipping - I never felt that tipping was expected - service was still great even if you didn't tip. Stayed in room 1208 which is a double size suite with separate living room and bedroom - jetted tub in the master suite as well as a tub on the balcony. Our first time at an all-inclusive and it delivered. We had an fantastic and relaxing vacation at Secrets.
